Congratulations to Nicola Adams, gold medal winner of the first Olympic Women's flyweight Boxing!

Also to the fantastic Katie Taylor who just won the lightweight gold,

and keep an eye on the Kickstarter for T-Rex, Clarissa Shields, the youngest ever competitor at 17, who then won middleweight gold! That'll be a hell of a documentary.

Meanwhile, here is an image from the 1908 London Olympics, depicting women competing in the "National Round" archery.

EDIT: And Jade Jones from Wales just won gold in Taekwondo!

I think that's surprising people about nearly all the athletes, they're not acting like spoilt footballers. They really are great, honourable, happy people. Which isn't always a side we see.

Who is going to get Sports Personality of the Year - Jessica Ennis? Bradley Wiggins? Mo Farah? Katie Taylor? When was the last time there were so many admirable *personalities*?
